Guide to Removing Kitchen Sink Faucets
Even the most expensive faucets can corrode with time and exposure to water and, sooner or later, these will leak. Fortunately, it is fairly easy to remove it and replace it with a new one. If you are in this situation, then all you need are a few basic tools and a little arm strength along with this guide to removing kitchen sink faucets.
First, begin by preparing the area and identifying the water lines. For this, you will have to take out everything inside the closet under the sink. After which, locate the two supply lines and determine which one is for hot water and which one is for cold. This will make your installation a bit easier later on.
Second, you need to look for the switch to the main water supply. Then, turn it off by turning its crank (found near the bottom) clockwise until it comes into a complete stop. Third, locate the connecting points of the lines to the faucet tubes. Remove the nuts by using an adjustable wrench and a pair of pliers. If you are having a hard time on this, pour a bit of oil or lubricant to make it easier to loosen.
Next, take the sprayer off by loosening the hose that you can find under the handle or the faucet itself. Again, use a pair of pliers and a wrench to remove the nuts at each end of the hose. After that, remove the mounting bolts underneath the back end of the sink. Finally, clear the area to avoid accidents, and then pull off the old faucets. Clean everything, and start installing your new equipment.
