Putting Out Kitchen Fires
Most individuals who are earning an average income dream of having their very own homes. With this purpose in their minds, they work day by day with the hopes of fulfilling their wishes. However, after years of sacrifices and their hard work has finally paid off, they will be faced with another issue — protecting their new abodes from disasters. One of the worst of these problems are house fires.
On this note, if you have recently bought a new dwelling, then you have to take all necessary measures. However, no matter what kind of precaution you take, the chances of these accidents happening can only be minimised and not eliminated. In this case, the first thing you have to do is to focus your attention on the most probable place where house blazes can start — in the kitchen. Here are some tips that you can use whenever this unfortunate event happens.
Before anything else, you need to have fire extinguishers, which are rated as class A, B, and C, within your reach. Take note that the first one is used for flames that are on wood, paper, and clothing. As for the second one, it is used for smaller grease fires while the class C equipment are perfect for electrical blazes.
Next, if the flame starts in your oven, shut the oven door as quickly as you can and turn off the heat. Doing so will smother the fire. Furthermore, in these cases, you have to avoid turning your exhaust fan on as it can spread the blaze into the walls. Finally, never use water on grease and electrical fires as it can either cause the flames to spread faster or create electrical shocks.
